Description: “Echoes of Freedom – The Tricolour Speaks” Convent of Jesus and Mary celebrated the 80th Independence Day with gusto and enthusiasm, commemorating the spirit of freedom, patriotism, unity and responsible citizenship. The celebration began with the arrival of the esteemed Chief Guest, Mr. Shravan Manta, Executive Director of H.P. State Civil Supplies Corporation and Director, H.P. State Electricity Board Limited followed by the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag. The unfurling of the Tricolour was accompanied by a soulful rendition of “Vande Mataram,” filling the atmosphere with patriotic fervour and pride. The programme then moved to the auditorium, where the students presented their special assembly, “Echoes of Freedom – The Tricolour Speaks.” The programme commenced with a warm welcome and an introduction highlighting the significance of Independence Day and the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp symbolised the triumph of light, hope and truth. A meaningful prayer service followed, offering prayers for the nation, its leaders, armed forces, school community and all those who work towards building a peaceful and harmonious India. The students then presented an inspiring audio-visual presentation, “Why We Are Proud to Be Indian,” showcasing India's remarkable achievements, cultural diversity, scientific progress and the many reasons for celebrating the spirit of the nation. The highlight of the programme was the dance drama, “Echoes of Freedom – The Tricolour Speaks.” Through an innovative blend of theatre, dance, technology and historical memories, the presentation traced India's journey from the struggle for freedom to the responsibilities of the present generation. The portrayal of a grandfather's memories of the freedom movement beautifully connected India's past with the aspirations of today's youth. The programme also celebrated India's unity in diversity through vibrant dance performances representing the country's varied cultures and traditions. The esteemed Chief Guest, Mr. Shravan Manta addressed the gathering and inspired the students with valuable thoughts on patriotism, responsibility and service to the nation. The programme concluded with the felicitation of the Chief Guest by the Principal Sr. Greta and a heartfelt Vote of Thanks. The celebration left the audience with a powerful message: “We inherit the freedom of yesterday, carry the responsibility of today, and shape the India of tomorrow.” The Independence Day celebration was a meaningful tribute to India's freedom and a reminder that the nation's future rests in the hands of its young citizens.
