Description: A Fire Extinguisher Drill was successfully conducted at Convent of Jesus and Mary on 20 July with the aim of creating awareness among students and teachers about fire safety and the proper use of fire extinguishers during emergencies. The session focused on equipping participants with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively to different types of fire incidents. The resource personnel explained the various classes of fire and demonstrated which type of fire extinguisher should be used in specific situations, such as electrical fires, flammable liquids, and ordinary combustible materials. Important safety precautions and emergency response procedures were also discussed. To ensure practical learning, students from every class, along with all teachers, actively participated in a hands-on fire extinguisher drill. Under expert supervision, each participant learned the correct technique of operating a fire extinguisher by following the PASS method—Pull the safety pin, Aim at the base of the fire, Squeeze the handle, and Sweep the nozzle from side to side. The drill proved to be highly informative and engaging, enhancing the preparedness of both students and staff. It reinforced the importance of remaining calm during emergencies and taking prompt, appropriate action to safeguard lives and property. The programme was a valuable step towards fostering a culture of safety, responsibility, and disaster preparedness within the school community.
