Description: Convent of Jesus and Mary, Chelsea, celebrated India's 79th Independence Day with great patriotic fervour on August 15, 2025. The school's premises were filled with students and staff, all united in celebrating the nation's freedom. ​This year's celebration was graced by an eminent chief guest, Mr. Ankaj Sharma. He is an IPS officer . Currently, he serves as the Joint Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. Of India. ​The ceremony began with a warm welcome and felicitation of the chief guest by the school's Principal, Sr. Greta D'Souza. This was followed by a heartfelt prayer service and an inspirational song that set a solemn and hopeful tone for the day. ​A major highlight of the event was a powerful dance drama performed by the students of class VI. The performance captivated the audience with its thought-provoking themes of women empowerment and the fight against drug abuse. These timely and relevant topics resonated deeply with everyone present. ​Mr. Sharma then addressed the gathering, delivering a motivational speech that encouraged students to become responsible and engaged citizens. His words were a source of great inspiration, leaving a lasting impression on the young minds. ​The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the event's success. The day's events culminated in a unified singing of the National Anthem, a powerful and fitting end to a memorable celebration of national pride and unity.
