Annual function of junior school (I-V)

On 14th October, 2017 Primary School Annual function of Convent of Jesus & Mary was organized in the auditorium. The chief guest for the day was Mr. B.L Vinta.

The function commenced at 10:30 a.m with the welcoming of the chief guest with a beautiful bouquet. To invoke God,s blessing there was lighting of the lamp by honorable chief guest for the day Mr. B.L Vinta, esteemed principal Sr. Shyma and Sr. Lily.

After this was the prayer dance performance by the students of class 3rd. This was followed by the melodious welcome song sung by the choir. The students from classes I to V presented a Fairy tale dance drama – Hansel + Gretel.

2. Gretel – Richi, Sudhanshi, Nishta

3. Stepmother – Shreya, Shristi

4. Father- Dhanya, Siya

5. Witch – Venya

The play depicts the moral that one should be brave and never give up like Hansel and Gretel, the two children of the play. Then there was an Annual Report which presented the brief glimpse of the activities of the school. The chief guest for the day was impressed by the programme and appreciated the efforts of the school for the holistic development of the children. This was followed by the choir sung by class V. After this was a folk fusion dance and the bollywood dance performance. The whole function was organized by the great efforts of all the teachers.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks given by Shaina followed by the school song sung by the choir. The scholarships were given to the students for various fields.

 

Special Assembly on Gandhi Jayanti

Gandhi Jayanti is one of the important national events in India celebrated every year on 2nd of October, a birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi ji was a pioneer of truth and non-violence. Gandhiji followed principles of non-violence and peace through his life. This day is also observed as International Day on Non-violence.  On 28th September class VII put up a special assembly on Gandhi jayanti. The students put up a small skits , prayers and hymns to depict the values of truth, honesty and non-violence that Gandhi ji followed throughout his life. The students were advised to follow the footsteps of Gandhi ji and the programme ended with the nation anthem.

Annual Function of Dina Kindergarten (Nursery & K.G)- 2017

 Dedication and perseverance are the most important elements of attainment of perfection and a reflection of this could be seen in the Annual Function of Pre Primary Section, Convent of Jesus & Mary, Chelsea, Shimla.

Mr. G.C. Negi Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Shimla was the chief guest for the event. The chief guest Mr. G.C. Negi Commissioner, Shimla, was given a ceremonial welcome by presenting a bouquet and a card.

The Programme commenced with the lighting of lamp by honourable chief guest Mr. G.C. Negi, School Manager and superior of the house Rev. Sr. Marina, esteemed Principal Sr. Shyma, In charge of Dina Kindergarten Sr. Lily Theres.

The cultural programme began with the prayer dance on the song “Chanan bole mere maan ka sitar” by blooming buds of Chelsea. Then a welcome song was presented by tiny tots of K.G who stole the show and added charm to the programme.

A dance drama based on the fairytale “The Promise” with the message that Loyalty is the greatest gift of life was presented by the students of K.G This play portrayed the story of King Julin who was getting old and wanted to know which of his three sons was capable enough to inherit the throne. The little ones exhibited immense confidence in showcasing their talents as actors and dancers. There was a ball dance, Dwarf dance, garden scene dance, celebration dance in between the play and the play concluded with happy ending dance. Nursery kids dressed up as mutiyaars astonished the audience with their smart and synchronized movements in Punjabi dance.  

Annual school report highlighting the achievements of school was presented by Head Girl Shreya Chauhan and Asst. Head Girl Gunjan Singh Negi. The dance on the song “I love cheap thrills” was full of gusto and entertainment.

The chief guest Mr. G.C Negi appreciated the efforts and talent of the tiny tots and also thanked the Principal Sr. Shyma and Manager Sr. Marina for their invitation .In the end vote of thanks was proposed by Honesty House Vice Captain Riya Sohini and the show concluded with the school song.

HINDI DIWAS CELEBRATION

 

‘A National Language is a bond of National Union’

Every year Hindi Diwas is celebrated on 14th September in India and around the world because on this day in 1949, the Constitution Assembly of India had adopted Hindi written in Devanagri script as the official language of the Republic of India.

The event serves to promote and propagate the Hindi language. Its importance is demonstrated by feasts, events, competitions and other service held on this day. It also serves as a patriotic reminder to Indian population of their common roots and unity.

In our school also we celebrated Hindi Diwas with love and devotion. The student of class IX- Orchid put up a great assembly to depict the same. The assembly began with a prayer service followed by a wonderful explanation. Then the students explained the importance of mother tongue followed by power point presentation and a lovely poem.

Teachers Day Celebration

On 5th September 2017, Teachers Day was celebrated in the premises of Convent of Jesus & Mary, Shimla. The teachers and sisters were duly welcomed into the auditorium with a huge round of applause then to invoke God’s blessing teachers were invited to light the lamp followed by a welcome dance. The students from class nursery to class XII performed various wonderful dances. Then class XII sang many beautiful songs. There were various bollywood games for the teachers where teachers won prizes as well. Teachers were given flowers and cards as well. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Ma’am Radhika and a natty performance by students and teachers. After the celebration the teachers headed for refreshment and students went to their respective classes to celebrate with the class teachers.

A drawing activity for junior school on Dina Belanger was conducted today i.e 1-9-2017 in the respective classes. The children drew beautiful drawing on Blessed Dina Belanger. Colorful nice quotations were written by them on the value of Dina Belanger. The children showed great interest and zeal in the activity. The best ones were displayed in the class.

Career Counseling for students of classes IX- XII

                                 “Quitters never win, Winners never quit”

                                                            

On 28th August, 2017 career counseling was organized for classes IX-XII. The career counseling session was presided over by Prof. P.K Ahluwalia who is a former Professor of Physics in Himachal Pradesh University.

Prof. Ahluwalia shared his enriching experiences about knowledge about various career opportunities available now days. He focused on the view that passion to achieve their target should always be followed in life. He motivated and inspired the students to persevere and follow their dream. He imparted awareness for various courses and colleges available in India and abroad for science and commerce students. He told the students about STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematic). Stressed on time management an integral part to achieve success in life. Students thereafter asked several questions pertaining to different walks of life and plethora of career options available. Indeed a great session on the various aspects of ended with a vote of thanks by the Head Girl Shreya Chauhan.

Fancy Dress Competition for Junior School-2017

Talent is a hidden treasure. It is like electricity. We do not understand electricity, we use it.

The grand and gorgeous fancy dress competition was held today i.e. 25th Aug, 2017 in the school auditorium. The participants from each section participated in it. The judges for the competition were Ma’am Kusum Chauhan, Ma’am Vandhan Verma and Ma’am Kiran Rathore . The students came forward displaying their vibrant costume. The few to the list are android, flower, life, T.V. reporter, Lalu Prasad, brain, Swach Bharat mission etc. It was a pleasure to watch them in different character and costume. The competition brought to an amiable ambience and the judges retorted with their applause. This activity was great fun. It stimulated the excellence of the children as it sparked their imagination.

INTER SCHOOL ELOCUTION COMPETITION

ELOCUTION IS THE SYMPHONY OF HEART AND LANGUAGE OF SOUL”

On 24th August, 2017 Inter School Elocution Competition was organized in the premises of Convent of Jesus & Mary, Chelsea. The judges of the event were Mrs. Anuja Sharma, Mrs. Priyanka Vinta and Dr. Anita Sharma. The event was arbitrated by this panel of judges. Seven schools from in and around Shimla that participated in the event were St. Lukes (solan), Saraswati Paradise School, Loreto Convent Tara Hall, Auckland House, B.C.S, St. Edwards and Convent of Jesus & Mary.

There were four categories which were as follow:

Class IX- Drama

Class X- Speech by an eminent person

Class XI- Turn Coat

Class XII- Declamation

 

All the contestants were full of zeal and enthusiasm and were well prepared. The program commenced by welcoming the judges for the day with bouquet followed by lighting of the lamp. Then students performed a welcome dance followed by the announcement about the rule and regulations for the event. The Event commenced as per schedule. Mrs. Anuja Sharma encouraged the students and teachers alike and also suggested to use authentic English rather than the prevalent S.M.S language. Mrs Anita Sharma announced the results for 1st and 2nd category and Mrs. Priyanka Vinta announced the results for 3rd and the 4th category.

Inter House English Declamation Competition

 

       “For good ideas and true innovation, one needs human interaction, conflict, argument, debate and the ability to declare one’s views clearly and openly.”

      On 19th Aug,2017 an Inter-House English Declamation was held in our school premises. Students from classes VI-XII participated in the competition. Each class had four participants of the four houses. The judges for the competition were ma’am Shweta Mahajan, ma’am Jinni Sharma and ma’am Sonam Bakshi. All the speakers were very well prepared and spoke very well. Then came the most awaited moment; the time when the results were declared by Ma’am Jinni . The winners and participants were congratulated by everyone. Sr. Shyma School principal was also present on this occasion and she appreciated and congratulated the participants for their diligent efforts. The overall best house was Green, while second was red house. It was really a memorable day for everyone.

Group Singing Competition for Class VI-VIII

“India is the cradle of human race, the birth place of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, the great grandmother of tradition. Our most artistic work lie in the history of man is treasured up in Indian only.”

On the auspicious day of Indian Independence day, our school organized a group singing competition on the theme ‘Patriotism’. This competition was an inter- class competition. Students sang melodious patriotic songs. All the students showed great enthusiasm. Everybody’s heart was full of patriotism. The respected judges for the competition were ma’am Rita and ma’am Megha. This competition was held on 16th august, 2017. Each group gave a marvelous performance and each student was so deeply engaged in the rhythm of each patriotic song. The competition ended with the inspiring words by ma’am Rita.

Hindi Calligraphy Competition for the Junior School- 2017

Calligraphy is an art of beautiful handwriting. Hindi calligraphy competition for the junior school was held today i.e. 18th August, 2017 in the respective classes. All the children participated in it and wrote in their best penmanship. The class teachers selected best three from their classes. Some students wrote so beautifully, it seems they are born with artistic skills. The certificates will be given to the winners.

Such activities really inspire and encourage the children to develop and improve their skills.

National Symbols Activity (1st to 5th)

 

        National symbols of a country present a host of objects that paints a unique identity about the countries sensibility. On 10th Aug,2017 National Symbols drawing activity for the Junior school was held in the respective classes. All the children participated in the activity and made beautiful drawing of National Symbols. The best ones were displayed in the class.

      The students also made the Trianga, our national flag showing the value of sacrifice, peace and prosperity by the tri colour of it. Such activities incite the feeling of patriotism amongst the children which teaches us to love our country and embrace the whole humanity. It also motivates the children to safe guard, develop and preserve the freedom of the country.

       To survive in peace and harmony, united and strong, we must have one people, one nation and one flag.

Inter-Section Patriotic Song and Fancy Dress Competition (Nur & K.G)

    16th August, 2017 was a day to celebrate 70th Independence Day for the tiny tots of “Dina Kindergarten”. The day was celebrated were enlightened about the sacrifice of great freedom fighters who laid their lives for our independence. A fancy dress and patriotic song competition was organized for the students of Nur & K.G.

The children from K.G were dressed up as freedom fighters and students of Nursery were dressed up as National Symbols. All the participants gave such confident and heart throbbing performance on the stage. All the classes of Nur & K.G sang patriotic songs enthusiastically with the spirit of patriotism. The judges for the day were ma’am Vandana Chadha and ma’am Tanvee Chauhan.

Our esteemed principal Sr. Shyma and Kindergarten In-charge Sr. Lily Therese appreciated the performance of little one’s and distributed chocolates and certificates as a token of appreciation and encouragement to the winners and participants of the day.

      Nursery & K.G Coloring Competition

         Monday, 24th July, 2017 was a colorful day for our Kindergarten children. On this day, a coloring completion based on Mother Foundress St. Claudine Thevenet was organized for the tiny tots of Nur & K.G. They colored the flowers picture with violet color and leave with green color and thereafter decorated them with glitters. The finished products were amazing as the children had created absolute magic with the imagination. It indeed was a very successful event and a memorable one too as all our children had proudly displayed their work and talent. The judges for this competition was ma’am Prabhjot and she expressed that each of flowers were wonderfully created masterpieces. The winners were awarded with certificates. Honorable Principal Sr. Shyma Jose and Sr. Lily Theres Sister Incharge of Kindergarten, appreciated the wonderful work exhibited by the children and applauded and congratulated them for their achievement.

     Special Assembly on Janmashtmi

      “Whenever there will be predominance of evil and decline of religion, I will reincarnate to kill the evil and save the good”. These are the holy words of Lord Krishna celebrate in our school, one was janmashtmi – the birth anniversary of lord Krishna celebrated on August 14 this year by the students of class 8th Orchid. The assembly started with a reading from the holy Bhagwad Gita which was based on the life history and preaching of Lord Krishna. In praise of lord Krishna some students performed a dance drama depicting the mischievous and playful behavior of lord Krishna with the Gopis of Vrindavan. The special assembly was also accompanied by a power point presentation and video which showcased the life history of lord Krishna- his birth, childhood, religious life, demons he killed and his teachings. The students were highly inspired by his preaching’s and sacrifices made by him for mankind. He was truly an inspirational figure and did everything he could for the spread of ‘Dharma Rajya’. The assembly was indeed with the following words of lord Krishna. Shining like the Sun, knowledge reveals the supreme in them, in whom ignorance is destroyed by self knowledge.

Independence Day Celebration for senior classes

On 15th August, 2017 Convent of Jesus & Mary, Chelsea, Shimla celebrated the 71st Independence Day with full enthusiasm and patriotism. The programeme commenced with the arrival of the esteemed chief guest for the day Mr. Jaswant Singh, additional district and session judge, who spared his precious time to attend this great event. The chief guest was welcomed in by honorable principal Sr. Shyma escorted in by the special guard of Honour. The chief guest was presented a bouquet and a card by Gracy Singh. Following that the Chief guest unfurled the national flag along with the choir singing National Anthem. Flag hoisting was followed by the March Past led by head girl Shreya Chauhan followed by all the cabinet members. After a slight break there was a cultural programme in the auditorium which stated with the lighting of lamp by the chief guest and our honorable principle sister Shyma. Then the chief guest was introduced to the audience . Then a special prayer service was conducted for the prosperity of our dear nation. Then there was a welcome dance, a short skit was performed depicting the freedom struggle and the present day scenario. Many dance performance added to the zeal of the programme- Chunar, vande mataram, rang de basanti, jai ho, kuch kariye and desh rangeela an the choir song patriotic song.. The chief guest then addressed the gathering with his inspiring motional thoughts:- that all the girls are “One lady Army” and we can make a difference to the society and national.

Independence Day Celebration for the Junior school-2017

It was a red letter day in the history of India when our country got its freedom on August 15th 1947. On this day we pay a tribute to our freedom fighters who laid their lives for the country. Our school also celebrates this function every year. The Junior school celebrated the independence day on 14th of August. It was observed with great enthusiasm by the students. It started with an introductory speech on the importance of this day. Then the children dressed up as National Symbols introduced themselves. After this students of class 3rd put up a dance performance to initiate the feeling of patriotism. Then followed by the patriotic group singing competition for classes 1 to 5. The judges for the competition were ma’am Twinkle and ma’am Rita. The children sang the glory of India and remembered the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for independence.

At the end our esteemed principal Sr. Shyma exhorted the students to follow the ideals of great people like Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru etc. The result for the competition was declared and the prizes were given away by the honorable judges.

      Creating a bond of love: Card making and Rakhi making activity

       4th August, 2017 was a day when the tiny tots of Dina Kindergarten turned into little artisans. Rakshabandhan is one of the most endearing ways to celebrate the bone of love between brothers and sisters. To strengthen this bond a Rakhi card making and Rakhi making activity was organized for the students of Nursery & K.G. This special event was organized to make children familiar with importance of Rakshabandhan. Little angels of Nursery made beautiful cards for their loving brothers and students of K.G. made Rakhi using simple household material like satin, ribbon, sequins etc. Their artisanship was quite fascinating and children thoroughly enjoyed this activity. Principal Sr. Shyma Jose and Sr. In-charge Sr. Lily Therses appreciated the work of little angels and said that it was truly a delight watching the little hands at work and delivering beautiful and creative masterpieces.

 

English Elocution and Recitation Competition 2017 (Nur & K.G)

       To spread the fragrance of poetry among the children of Nursery and K.G. an intersection English Elocution Competition was organized on 2nd August, 2017 in the school auditorium. The respective judges for the competition were Ma’am Sunila Nath and Ma’am Akshita Vayas. The event was graced by the presence of esteemed Principal Sr. Shyma Jose and Sister-in-charge Sr. Lily Therese.

        The main purpose of this competition was to give the children an opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence. All students participated with great enthusiasm. Sweets were given as a token of appreciation and reward to the group poem participants and certificate were awarded to the winners and participants of the solo poem by Sr. Lily Therese. The principal Sr. Shyma Jose appreciated the wonderful performance of the tiny tots. The jury also appreciated the hard work put in by the little angels as well as by the teachers.

RAKHI MAKING ACTIVITY FOR JUNIOR SCHOOL (I - V)

      Rakhi celebration the bond of love and affection between sister and brother. Since the pious festival of Rakhi will be observed next week, a rakhi making activity was held on 3/8/2017. It was a class activity and all the children participated enthusiastically. The children brought the material for it and made beautiful Rakhis using thread, lace, satin ribbon, beads, stipules, sponge etc. They came up with many creative and innovative ideas. As there Rakhis were self made which is one of the best expression of sisterly love to her brother. They worked with great pleasure and enjoyed a lot. They also learnt new ideas from each other.

       Such activities help the children to display their ideas and creativity to their best and encourage them to develop their skills.

FEAST OF ST. CLAUDINE THEVENET

 “There is no greater misfortune than to live and die without knowing God”

 

On 31st July, 2017 the school celebrated the feast of St. Claudine Thevenet, Mother Foundress of the Congregation of Jesus & Mary. In the days leading up to the celibration, the students put up special assemblies shedding light on the values preached by St. Claudine Thevenet. The student of class IX to XII took up the themes of honesty, fear of God, service to mankind is service to God, humanity, dedication and enthusiasm for work, forgiveness and endurance.

On this auspicious occasion our special guests were Sr. Shyma, Sr. Marina along with the other sisters of our school and St. Bede’s collage. The programme commenced with the welcoming of our dear Sisters to the school auditorium. To invoke God’s blessing, our sisters lighted the lamp which was followed by a spiritual dance performance by the students. Classes 4 and 5 had put up a dance drama depicting the life history and values of St. Claudine Thevenet. The programme proceeded with an emotive Power Point Presentation on St. Claudine Thevenet which was followed by a few words of encouragement by our Reverent Manager Sr. Marina in which she highlighted the last words of St. Claudine Thevenet which were “How Good God Is” and of her brothers which were “Forgive as we forgive”. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks and the Anthem of the Congregation.

St. Claudine Thevenet cared for the spiritually and materially poor in order to bring them to the knowledge of God. Her all consuming zeal animated those around her to follow the path of self-sacrifice, love and service to others. St. Claudine may not be among us today, but she continues to live among us through her exemplary work and ideals which our school continues to impart to young girls.

 

Welcome of Sr. Lily Therse, In charge Dina Kindergarten

On 28th June, 2017, on behalf of our Honorable Principal, management, staff and student of Chelsea, a warm welcome was given to Sr. Lily Therse.

Principal Sr. Shyma Jose introduced Sr. Lily to the staff and students of Kindergarten and welcome her for her new assignment.

Tiny Tots welcome Sr. Lily with a bouquet and card. A prayer service was conducted by teachers of Kindergarten to ask God for his blessings for Sr. Lily and be a guide in her new endeavor. Sr. Lily Thanked

everyone for the warm welcome. Everyone hoped that with her guidance, the school will reach new heights in achieving success and excellence.

“I HAVE WINGS, I WILL FLY” Seminar for class 11th and 12th

On 14th July, 2017 a seminar focusing on ‘self enlightenment’ was conducted in the school auditorium for classes 11th and 12th. The seminar started at 9:15 a.m. with an opening speech by the school Head Girl- Shreya Chauhan. This seminar was led by father Jacob who graciously managed to take out the time from his busy schedule to guide the students. The slot of time fined for the seminar was divided into two sessions. The first session began with a presentation that focused on the importance of setting goals and staying motivated in order to achieve those goals in life. Father Jacob elaborated the great views of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and explained his vision of better future that awaits for our country and which lies in the hands of today’s youth. Some main considerations were the discussion related to distraction that are faced by teenagers and how they help to drain all the positive energy produced by the brain. It was a very interactive session, where the students posed their questions and father patiently framed all the answers in the best way he could. The first session ended with a memory boosting game played by then selected students, that left everyone excited and activated a sense of happiness.

The second session, that was followed by a break of 15 minutes, began with the discussion of the Preamble of our Constitution. Henceforth all the students were asked to design their own “Self Preamble’ that should comprise of all that they aspire to become in life and how do they aim in making a difference in this world. Issues related to happiness and positive attitude were actively discussed by the students as they put forward their experiences in maintaining their positive attitude long-term durations. Towards the end of the session  father Jacob narrated two stories which not only revolved around maintaining self confidence but also stressed on the need of being true to your ethics and values. The seminar ended with a video song that mentioned the importance of being happy and satisfied with whatever life bring to you. This was followed by a thankyou speech by the school Head Girl- Shrey Chauhan.

Students felt inspired and were motivated to perform well in their test of life.

INTER HOUSE FOOD COMPETITION – 2017

Eating is a necessity, but cooking is an art. The inter house food competition was held on 21st July,2017. The theme of the competition was ‘Rainbow of Cuisines.’ Two category was there, Category I (Juniors for classes 6 to 8 and category II (senior) for classes 9 & 10. For category I, the children had prepared two items keeping in mind the nutritive value. The items were fruit desserts and sprout salads. Like wise for category II, the children had to prepare mocktails and steamed food. Green House stood first in the junior category followed by Blue House. In the senior category too Green House bagged the first position followed by Yellow House.

This competition, well revealed the zeal, enthusiasm and creativity of the budding masterchefs.

 

Hindi Alphabet Formation Competition

A neat and beautiful handwriting always attracts attention. A Hindi Alphabet formation competition was conducted on July 10th 2017 for class k.g. The main motive of this competition was the instill the habit of neatness in the early years of their schooling. The competition was judged by Sr. Lily Theres and certification were awarded to the 1st , 2nd and 3rd position holders by our honorable principal Sr. Shyma Jose & Sr. Lily Therse.

A Hindi group and solo poem recitation competition was conducted for tiny tots of Nur & K.G. Oh! What a beautiful way to express something through innocent words and actions in melody with all smiles & giggles. This is what our little angels of Nur & K.G did on 13th July’ 2017 with all their confidence & curiosity to stand in front of the audience and say it loudly to mark their presence. Each one present there could feel and see the enthusiasm children had in their presentation. Variety of interesting poem with good introduction of themselves had flown in melody from the little angels. The final judgment was made by the two of the judges ma’am Shalini Chauhan & ma’am Abha Datwalia. Honorable Principal Sr. Shyma Joes appreciated and applauded the performance of the participants. Sweets and certificates were awarded to the winners & participants by our esteemed Principal Sr. Shyma Joes & Sr. Lily Theres.

International Yoga Day (Nur & K.G)

The International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June, 2017 to bring peace, harmony, happiness and sucess to every soul in the world. This was a great opportunity to imbibe the value of discipline. Yoga is a mental, physical and spritual practice. Children got know how yoga helps in unity of mind and body. Tiny tots of Nur & K.G. with their teachers performed yoga during the assembly. Various stretchings poses and deep breathing exercise were performed to relax and make children aware of the relevance of Yoga in daily life

Orientation for Teachers

On 15th July,2017 an orientation for teachers was organized in the school premises which was well conducted by Father Jacob, Principal of Nishkalank Mata Public School. He is the Archdiocese of Agra.

At the commencement of the orientation Father Jacob was welcomed by Ma’am Shalini Sood. Father greeted the teacher and started with the importance and influence of teachers on students and guided the teachers that how teachers can be instrumental in bringing about the change in society and the nation. He also insisted on the equal contribution of parents, teachers and students for the holistic development of the students. He  mentioned that the teachers in the class must be creative, humorous and patient. She/he carries a sense of divine within themselves. He also made also made teachers participate in the activities and interactive sessions. The orientation was a wonderful way to rejuvenate and revive a few values that take back seat and become a mare procedure.

At the successful conclusion of the orientation ma’am Shweta Mahajan proposed the vote of thanks.   

CLAY MOULDING COMPETITION (NUR & K.G)

Clay moulding is one of the ways to develop fine motor skills in children. Keeping this in mind, a clay moulding competition was organized for the students of Nur & K.G on 30th June, 2017. This competition was perfect platform for the creative minds of the children to meet their colourful desires and fantasy needs. They made their own beautiful sun, snake, snail, octopus, flowers, shapes etc and displayed them with pride.

The efforts and work of the little angels were highly appreciated by our Honorable Principal Sr. Shyma Jose and Sr. Lily Theres. The winners of the competition were awarded with certificates.

On 29th June,2017 on behalf of Principal, Management Staff and students of Chelsea overwhelming welcome was given to Sr. Marina. Principal Sr. Shyma Jose welcomed the school manager for her new assignment. Staff welcomed and felicitated Sr. Marina with a bouquet, card and shawl. Everyone hoped that with her energy, idea and focus on education and learning institute will reach new heights in achieving excellence. To mark this occasion on behalf of management refreshments were arranged for the entire teaching and non teaching staff of Chelsea .

 Sr. Marina greeted everyone with her gentle smile and beautiful words that “I am always at your service.” left an indelible mark in everybody’s heart. My God bless her in her new Endeavour.

INTER CLASS SOLO SINGING COMPETITION (VI-X) – 2017

Music is the light in the dark gloomy night. It is the soul that can be heard by the universe. An inter-class solo singing competition was held on 28th June, 2017. The students from classes VI to X participated in the competition. Mrs. Nidhi Rana and Ms. Shruriti Chauhan were the judges for the day.

    Students were judged on the four main criterion: Melody, Rhythm, Presentation and selection of songs. Certificate were awarded to the winners and the participants.

INTER-CLASS SOLO SINGING COMPETITION

Solo singing competition for the junior school was held on 23rd June, 2017 in the school auditorium. All the participants sang the song (folk and classical) with confidence. Students were judged on the three main criterion.

Melody, Rhythm and Presentation.

The judges for the competition were ma’am Prabjot and ma’am Aditi. The judges were really impressed and praised all the participants for their confidence.

LADY’S FINGER PRINTING ACTIVITY (K.G.)

Creativity is a great motivator as it makes children interested in what they are doing. To encourage imagination and creativity amongst the students, a vegetable printing activity was organized in the class for K.G. students. All the students participated enthusiastically and exhibited their talent and imagination using lady’s finger and water colour and made butterflies and flowers

COLOURING COMPETITION of Nur & K.G.

An inter-class colouring competition for standard nursery and k.g. was organized on 29.5.17. This activity was organized to explore and encourage creativity in children and offer them a platform to show their skill in colouring. It inspired children to think and work creatively and promoted artistic excellence. Children participated earnestly in the competition. Each of these drawings were artistically coloured by children. It was a treat to the eyes. The 1st , 2nd , 3rd position holders were awarded with merit certificate by our esteemed Principal Sr. Shyma Joes.

It is nice to have valid competition, it pushes you to do better.

Hindi Elocution competition was held on 19th May, 2017. All the students recited the poem with rhythm and intonation. Children participated with full enthusiasm and zeal. Performance reflected the hard work of children as well as of the teachers. Activity developed competitive spirit and unity among children.

SOLO RECITATION FOR JUNIOR SCHOOL-2017

Solo recitation for the junior school was held today i.e. 2nd June 2017 in the school auditorium. All participants recited the poems with confidence and clarity. The judges for the competition were ma’am Laly and ma’am Seema. The judges were really impressed and praised all the participants for their confidence. 1st,2nd and 3rd positions were declared from each class.

SAVE ENVIRONMENT ACTIVITY

                                                                            

Every part of this Earth is sacred whatever befalls the earth, befalls the children of the earth.

It is important to look after our environment in order to make earth a better place to live. Each year the school authorities motivate the students and the teachers to propagate the importance of environment day. So every year we celebrate Environment Day in our school and to mark the day this year the school organized a “Sapling Planting Session “for students. They planted the flowers in the pots with the scientific names of the plants written on it. We also had a competition for class 6th to 10th on Environment Issues. There were three categories- Slogan writing competition for class 6th and 7th, Poster making competition for class 8th and Painting competition for classes 9th and 10th. The winners were awarded with the certificates during the Special Assembly we had on Environment Day. In the special Assembly there was a prayer service, a power point presentation and a skit performed by the students of class 9th Rose. The programme successfully concluded with national anthem.

HINDI DECLAMATION COMPETITION-2017

House wise ‘Hindi Declamation’ contest was held on 3rd June, 2017. Mrs.Rita Gupta, Mrs Anjana Thakur and Mrs. Anamika Sharma were the judges for the competition. 24 students from classes 6th to 12th participated in the contest out of which 12 students were declared ‘Best Speakers’ and ‘Most Promising Speaker’. All the participants were awarded with the certificate by our esteemed principal Sr. Shyma. Yellow House was declared the Best House for Hindi Declamation. Farewell of Sr. Alma

“Parting is painful and leaving behind worse, its not only the tears that are painful, but the smile carries large agony separation on 17th June, 2017 a tearful farewell was conducted for Sister Alma.

Sister Alma has dedicated 12 long years of her life to Convent of Jesus & Mary- Chealsea - Shimla, so the farewell was really an emotional affair for everyone.

The programe commenced with a prayer service conducted by class XI followed by prayer dance performance by class V.

Then there was wonderful dance performance by tiny tots of nursery and K.G. followed by a scintillating dance by class I & II. Melodious songs and hymns were sung by school choir and teachers. Student of class VII & VIII dedicated a dance performance to dearest Sr. Alma. Classes IX and X danced enthusiastically to showcase their love for Sr. Alma. Then there was a PPT- Down the memory lane presented by class XII followed by farewell speech by students and teachers.

Then all the students presented cards and bought bouquets as a token of lone and gratitude. Head girl of the school also presented a token of reverence to Sr. Alma.

Then there was an emotional speech by Sr. Alma followed by a note of thanks.

“ Goodbyes are a promise, that we will surely meet again”.

INAUGURATION OF NEWLY CONSTRUCTED GROUND

On 31st may, 2017 inauguration of the newly construction road near the car parking and a newly constructed play ground was done by Bishop of Chandigarh-Shimla diocese Rev. Bishop Ignatius masearenhas .

Rev. Bishop with other priests and principals of different school along with nuns were present at the car parking area where father had cut the ribbon to inaugurate the new road. He also showered his blessing with holy reading and holy water sprinkled over the place. Then everyone reached at the gate of the newly constructed Play ground. Where Discipline Captain Charul Mangal and Discipline Vice Captain Meghna Sharma welcome the Rev. Bishop with a card and a bouquet. Then the choir sang a beautiful song following which Rev. Bishop blessed the ground with a holy reading and holy water sprinkled everywhere. The students presented a wonderful welcome dance along with a brilliant Pom Pom Drill. Then there was a 100 m race on the ground where

The ability to express someone else’s words in our own way will enable a child to create her own unique identity. With this aim , under the able guidance of our esteemed Principal Sr. Shyma story telling competition was conducted on 1st june,2017 for the students of Nursery and K.G. There were two students from each section of Nursery and K.G. who prepared very interesting stories with a proper moral conveyed. The story telling competition helped each participant to enhance the speaking skills and creativity. Honorable Principal Sr. Shyma Jose encouraged and appreciated the efforts of little angels and Sr. Claudine gave the certificates to the position holders and participation certificates were given to the other participants.

Inter class and inter house dance competition was organized on 20th may, 2017. The event was judged by Mrs. Manisha Thakur, Mrs. Savita Sharma and Mrs. Poonam Manta. The programme began with lighting of lamp. The students depicted various dance with fill fervor and enthusiasm. The junior categories had states and festivals as their theme, whereas the senior category had a value based theme. All the groups gave memorizing performances.

TALENT HUNT FOR JUNIOR SCHOOL-2017

The talent hunt for the junior school was held on 22nd of may 2017. In the school auditorium. There were 2 participants from each section. Children performed the dances on various songs, played the melodies on Casio and guitar. Mimicry was also performed by the children. Such programmes should be organized now and then so that the children can diagnose their talents and groom themselves. Everybody enjoyed it. Respected principal also encouraged the children to show case their talents. It was great fun.

Workers Day

“Determined heart, firm hands, honorable shoulders and grounded head make a man persevere and submit to the higher authority”

On 1st May, 2017 Workers Days was celebrated with a lot of love reverence, enthusiasm and humility in the premises of Convent of Jesus & Mary- Chelsea. All the respected workers were most humbly ushered into the auditorium with showers of blessing and flowers. They were welcomed with a flower each. The auditorium reverberated with applause and respect. The programme was conducted by class XII and it commenced with a prayer service specially for our meticulous workers. There to invoke God’s blessing the lighting of the lamp was done by Mr. Raju, Mr. Dewan Singh, Mrs. Vimla, Mrs. Kanta and Mrs. Lata. Thereafter the choir sang a beautiful hymn followed by a welcome dance. The head girl of the school Shreya Chauhan enlightened everyone on the importance of May Day and how in different parts of the world it was celebrated. Then there was a scintillating performance on a Rajasthani Dance followed by a bollywood dance. Then there was an informative video on the glory of Hard Work.

Then the dear workers were presented with a gift by the school management and cards made by students of class XII sweets were also distributed on this solemn occasion. Then there were Punjabi and Pahari dance which was full of enthusiasm and vigour. A few workers also joined the dance on the stage. The successful programme concluded with a note of thanks by Parthi Pirta.

A PERFORMANCE BY DIVINE CHARITABLE TRUST

God says “If you do anything to the poor, the need, you to it to me.”

On 9th May, 2017, Divine Charitable Trust conducted an entertaining as well as inspiring programme in Convent of Jesus and Mary, in which visually challenged people entertained us with various songs sung melodiously. The trust was founded by Mr. Vincent in Telangana who has won many awards for his sincere service to society.

Watching them perform, one could only be marveled by their courage to overcome their inabilities and bring out their talents. Their hard work and confidence inspired all of the people present there. By the end of the programme, the audience was urged to realize that if visually challenged people can enlighten and inspire us, there is so much that we can do for others.

HIPA DISASTER MANAGEMENT TRAINING PROGRAME

One of our teacher Mrs. Anju Sen went to HIPA to attend a disaster management training programme from 4th May to 6th May 2017. Thirty five teachers and principals attended the programme. The training was very informative, as they told us about the various disasters like earthquake, fire etc. They even told us about the Mock drill and also to teach the students the same in the school. We were even told the various ways by which we can save our family members and our children in the school and also about the ways which would help us to overcome this situation. Hence, this disaster management training programme was very informative and helpful.

POCSO SPECIAL ASSEMBLY

On 2nd May, Special assembly was organized in which children from classes 5th to 12th were told about POCSO and child protection policy. All the members of the pocso discussed different issues related to POCSO like Bully, Good Touch, Bad Touch, Abuse and types of abuse etc.

Mass of the Holy Spirit

On 20th of April, 2017, Mass of the Holy Spirit was conducted in Chelsea, Father Anil Siquerra, principal of St. Edwards was the main celebrant. The mass began with an entrance hymn. Father gave a very inspiring speech to instill in us the feeling of selflessness. For the offertory procession certain things like text book, globe, lighted candle, bread and wine were offered to God on behalf of the entire gathering. Many hymns were sang, versus from the Bible were read and then eventually the Mass of the Holy Spirit came to an end with the final hymn “Showers of Blessings”. It was a great opportunity for all of us to come closer to God.

EASTER DAY

On 13th April, 2017 convent of Jesus and Mary Chelsea celebrated Easter with a lot of enthusiasm and Gusto. A power point presentation based on the life of Jesus was projected that not only depicted his teaching and importance of Maundy Thursday (last supper), good Friday the day Jesus was crucified, followed by the resurrection of Jesus and his blessings of the humanity.

Students explained the importance of Easter celebration. Lovely hymns and prayer were sung in praise of the lord and his glory. The entire atmosphere was filled with a lot of gratitude, humility and spirituality

EARTH DAY

There is no limit to the possibilities for a man with imagination and skill. The creativity of a person plays an important role in his/her life. A person with creative mind can not only fill his life with colours but also bring refreshing ideas for other. Keeping this in view the school organized earth day activity on 20/04/2017 to enhance creativity in the mind of children to protect their mother earth from the damagers especially pollution.

LAYING FOUNDATION STONE CEREMONY OF THE OVER BRIDGE AND FOOT PATH AT NAVBHAR CHOWK

On 11th april, 2017 Honorable chief minister of H.P Mr. Virbhadra singh laying and inauguration the inaugurating the foundation stone of the over bridge and foot path at the navbhar chowk . He was cordially welcomed and greeted by honorable principal of convent of Jesus and Mary Chelsea, sr. Shyma jose, teachers and students.

BOOK MARK MAKING ACTIVITY (Class I to V)

Book mark making activity was held on 12th April 2017. Children took part enthusiastically showing their interest and came up with various ideas. They were judged on the basis of their neatness, creativity and new ideas. This activity helped the children developing values of team spirit and organized productivity.

INTER HOUSE COLLAGE MAKING COMPETITION- 2017

On 8th April, 2017 an Inter House Collage making Competition was held in the school premises. The class from VII to X participated with great enthusiasm. There were two categories:- Culture of Himachal Pradesh for classes VII & VIII and Monuments of Himachal Pradesh for class IX & X . Students displayed immense creativity and innovation. The respective judges were Ma’am Shweta Mahajan, Ma’am Anjana Kalta and Miss Julie. The houses were judged based on the theme, creativity and neatness. There was a commendable competition among the Houses and the judges appreciated the hard work put in by the students.

HIMACHAL DAY

On 11th April, 2017, Himachal Day was celebrated in convent of Jesus and Mary with great enthusiasm. A special assembly was conducted by the students of class VI. The function was presided over by our respected principal sr. shyma, Rev. Manager sr. Alma as well as sisters of the community. The programme was started with a prayer service, which was followed by a speech highlight erg the values that the state of H.P teaches us through its various aspects.

The next attraction of the programme was a power point presentation, which was prepared with absolute correctness and creativity. The presentation was extremely informative and made the students aware of the various district specialties of the state.

The function was made entertaining by presenting beautiful dances from different district like Bilaspur, Mandi, Kangra and Kinnaur. The highlight of the programme was the “phari naati”, which made the students as well as the teachers top their feet. The programme ended with Sr. Shyma inspirational speech followed by national Anthem.

 

 

JUNIOR SCHOOL ENGLISH ELOCUTION COMPETITION

The junior school English elocution competition was held on 6th April 2017. The competition was intersection. The judges for the competition were Ma’am Radhika, Ma’am Niti and Ma’am Sonam. All the children participated enthusiastically with full confidence and zeal. The judges also enjoyed the performance and praised the efforts made by the children and teachers.

ON 18TH MARCH, 2017 THE INSTALLATION CEREMONY FOR THE SENIOR SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL AND THE JUNIOR SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL WAS HELD IN THE SCHOOL PREMISES

           THE CHIEF GUEST FOR THE DAY WAS COLONEL ASHISH GAMBHIR .

             THE PROGRAM COMMENCED BY THE WELCOMING OF THE CHIEF GUST WITH A BOUQUET AS A TOKEN OF LOVE AND REVERENCE.THE USHERING IN OF THE CHIEF GUST BY THE THE GUARD OF HONOUR.AS THE CHIEF GUEST REACHED AUDITORIUM. HE WAS WHOLE HEARTEDLY WELCOMED THE APPLAUSE AND CHEERS BY THE AUDIENCE AND BOUQUET WAS PRESENTED TO THE HONORABLE CHIEF GUEST BY AARUSHI GAMBHIR OF CLASS 5TH LILY AS A TOKEN OF LOVE AND REVERENCE. THEREAFTER THE CHIEF GUEST WAS INTRODUCED TO THE GATHERING BY ASHNA CLASS 11TH ORCHID TO INVOKE GOD’S BLESSING. THE STUDENTS PRESENTED A PRAYER DANCE. POST THE PRAYER DANCE THE STUDENT COUNCIL -2017 -2018 PROUDLY MARCHED IN WITH THEIR HOPEFUL EYES AND STRAIGHT SHOULDER.TO BESEECH THE GOD’S GRACE AND SPIRITUALITY. THE LIGHTING OF THE LAMP WAS DONE BY THE HONORABLE CHIEF GUEST FOR THE DAY COLONEL ASHISH GAMBHIR, ESTEEMED PRINCIPAL SR. SHYMA AND REVEREND MANAGER SR. ALMA.

             THEN MELODIOUS PRAYERS AND HYMNS WERE SUNG TO PRAISE THE GOOD LORD.

             FOLLOWING THE PRAYER THE STUDENT COUNCIL-2017-18 TOOK THE SOLEMN OATH, AND THEN THEY WERE GIVEN FLAGS, BADGES AND SASHES AS A MARK OF RESPONSIBILITY AND HONOUR.

             THE CHIEF GUEST FOR THE DAY ADDRESSED THE AUGUST GATHERING COMPRESSING OF THE STUDENT COUNCIL 2017-18. HONORABLE PRINCIPAL SR. SHYMA, MANAGER SR. ALMA, SISTERS OF THE CONGREGATION, PARENTS OF THE NEWLY APPOINTED COUNCIL, MEMBER OF TEACHING AND NON- TEACHING STAFF AND THE STUDENTS.

             HE EMPHASIZED ON THE VALUE BASED TEACHING,  LEARNING AND THE ROLE OF TEACHERS AS WELL. HE STRESSED UPON THE PATRIOTIC VALUES AND THE ENTHUSIASM TO PERSEVERE AND ACHIEVE. HE INSPIRED THE NEWLY APPOINTED CABINET AND ALSO ENCOURAGED EVERYONE TO DREAM HIGH, AND TO WORK AS A TEAM.

NURSERY ORIENTATION 2017

'CONNECTING HOME AND SCHOOL MAKES US A GREAT COMMUNITY OF LEARNERS'.

UNDER THE ABLE GUIDANCE OF OUR ESTEEMED PRINCIPAL SR. SHYMA JOSE, AN ORIENTATION PROGRAMME WAS ORGANIZED FOR THE PARENTS OF NEWLY ADMITTED CHILDREN OF NURSERY ON MARCH 15, 2017. THE AIM WAS TO FAMILIARIZE THE PARENTS “AS PARTNERS IN PROGRESS” WITH THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE SCHOOL AND VARIOUS ACTIVITIES THAT PLAY A VITAL ROLE IN SHAPING THE PERSONALITY OF THE CHILD, LEADING TO THE ALL ROUND DEVELOPMENT. THE PROGRAMME COMMENCED WITH A WARM WELCOME TO THE PARENTS FOLLOWED BY THE CEREMONIAL LIGHTING OF THE LAMP, PRAYER DANCE BY STUDENTS OF CLASS 4TH AND 5TH AND PRAYER SERVICE.

A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION ON LIFE HISTORY AND WORK OF ST. CLAUDINE THEVENET WAS SHOWN TO PARENTS TO FAMILIARIZE THEM WITH OUR MOTHER FOUNDRESS, FOLLOWED BY A HYMN PREPARED BY THE SCHOOL CHOIR. A VIDEO ON EFFECTIVE PARENTING- HIGHLIGHTING THE FACT THAT THE QUALITY TIME PARENTS SPEND WITH THEIR CHILDREN IS VERY IMPORTANT TO NURTURE A CHILD WITH LOVE AND CARE THAT WILL HELP TO BUILD A STRONG FOUNDATION FOR A GLORIOUS FUTURE.

THE PARENTS WERE BRIEFED ABOUT THE RULES AND REGULATION OF THE SCHOOL. THE ORIENTATION PROGRAMME PROVED TO BE A SINCERE EFFORT MADE BY THE SCHOOL IN EDUCATING THE PARENTS TO LOOK AFTER AND GUIDE THEIR CHILDREN IN A PROPER MANNER. THE PROGRAMME CONCLUDED WITH A VOTE OF THANKS FOLLOWED BY SCHOOL SONG.

OVERALL IT WAS A FRUITFUL MEETING AND THE PARENTS WERE IN HIGH SPIRITS AFTER ATTENDING THE ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

STORY TELLING COMPETITION-2016

The junior school inter-section story telling competition was held on 8th Dec, 2016. Classes 1st to 4th participated in it with two participants from each section. All narrated the stories with full confidence and enthusiasm each story had a moral to convey. The judges for the competition were ma’am Shradha and ma’am Shalini sood. They were spell bound by the way the children narrated the stories. They also praised the teachers for their efforts. All enjoyed this last activity of the year sitting outside in the sun. Results were announced and certificates were given away to the winners.

 

CLASS XII FAREWELL- 2016

“Our friendship is the best thing that has ever happened. Talking to you made me smile and meeting you set me free. I can’t believe that fate is taking you away and ripping us apart. I just want to say that I will miss you from the bottom of my heart. Goodbye my friend, See you Soon.”

On 16th December, 2016  class XII was bid goodbye with emotional heart and hopeful soul with a farewell conducted  by class XI. Just like how birds teach their young ones to fly and then leave them to venture out , we as well send our daughters to achieve, to succeed, to fly and to serve the society. Our lovely damsels of class XII arrived with full charm and grace dressed to enthrall and fascinate all. Class XI also received their seniors at the school gate with full veneration and admiration. Then they were duly escorted to the school auditorium. There again they were welcomed with a beautiful flower. The auditorium was lovingly and amazingly decorated for the occasion. The programme commenced with Lighting of the lamp by The Head Girl Aditi Sharma and the cabinet members followed by a prayer service to invoke God’s blessings. Then there was a lovely welcome dance followed by the first round of modeling. The respective judges for the event were Ma’am Jinni , Ma’am Shweta Mahajan and Ma’am Tanvi Chauhan  . Then again there was a dance performance followed by enchanting song being sung by class XI choir. Then we had Question Answer Round followed by the sumptuous lunch. We resumed after an hour and then we had the last round that was Judges question answer round. Then class XII was given away a farewell gift and a Title well suited. Then another ravishing dance performance followed by declaration of the results for Miss Chelsea Pageant. Finally after words of encouragement and appreciation  the much awaited results were announced by Ma’am Jinni Sharma which were as  follows:

All cheered and congratulated the winners. Then there was crowning of the winners was done by Honourable Principal Sr. Shyma and followed by the cake cutting. The successful event concluded by the vote of thanks by the Head Girl, Aditi Sharma. She not only thanked her juniors but Principal, teachers and the staff of Chelsea. And we all with a heavy heart send our gems to shine out for all.

 

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS

Christmas was celebrated in the school on 29th Nov, 2016. The chief guest for the day was Father Thartius, the vice Principal of St. Edward School. Christmas play was put up by the students of class 3rd, in which the birth history of Jesus Christ was depicted. Dances and hymns were put up by the students of class Nur, Kg, 1st, 2nd and 4th. All the children performed beautifully on the stage and showcased their talent and skills. The message given by the play was to love one another the way Jesus Christ loves us. It also passed a message to live in harmony and spread peace and happiness. Father gave an inspiring speech and the children were motivated. Santa was the main attraction for the day. Children were very amused to see him. Sweets were distributed to the children and they were very thrilled and excited. Children enjoyed the day by sharing lunch and gifts and were wearing colourful clothes. All in all it was a wonderful, blessed Christmas Celebration Day.

FAREWELL ASSEMBLY- 2016 CALSS XII

On 30th November, 2016 the farewell assembly was conducted by class 12th. The assembly commenced with a prayer service to invoke God’s blessing. Then with heavy heart and teary eyes children shared their experience with the august gathering. They summed up their entire journey in a few words. Then a P.P.T was projected as a symbol of love and belongingness. Then the students dance on emotional tunes followed by soulful songs that they sung with tears in their eyes. A candle as a symbol of spirituality and enlightenment was presented to the upcoming class 12th, then a notebook was also presented as a symbol of education and wisdom followed by a potted plant as a symbol of growth and love. Then head girl Aditi Sharma addressed the gathering for the last time followed by address by the class teacher Mrs. Shradha thakur and Mrs. Shalini sood. Then honorable principal sr. Shyma blessed the students with her words of encouragement and love. At last head girl on behalf of class 12th presented a token of love and reverence to the school and handed it over to the honorable principal sr. Shyma. The programme concluded with a national anthem.

LAYING DOWN CEREMONY

On 30th November, 2016 the laying down ceremony was conducted in the premises of convent of Jesus and Mary Chelsea. Senior council and junior council with heavy heart full of responsibility and pride laid down their badges and sashes. All of them worked diligently and adhered to the school rules and regulations. The best house was bagged by perseverance house (Blue house) and the second position was bagged by responsibility house (Yellow house) shields were given to the respective house and honorable principal congratulated the house mistresses, respective teachers and the students of both the houses. 

ART AND CRAFT EXHIBITION 2016

 

Art is the inner reflection of a person’s beauty. On 19th Nov, 2016 Annual Art & Craft Exhibition was held at our school auditorium. Various kinds of Arts & Crafts were put up by the students; it include glass painting, canvas painting, water colour painting etc. Many parents came to see the exhibition and appreciated the hand work put up by the students of classes nursery to tenth. The efforts made by the students came into light only because of our esteemed Principal Sr. Shyma Jose, Manager Sr. Alma and with the help of all the Sisters.

CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION

On 16th November, 2016 Celebrations of Children’s Day were done at Convent of Jesus and Mary Chelsea, Shimla. The programme commenced with the Introduction for the Children’s Day followed by Lighting of Lamp by the senior Cabinet. Then the teachers conducted a prayer service followed by a melodious song sung by the teachers. Then the teachers of lasses Nursery and KG performed a Punjabi Dance followed by a Gidda and Natti by the Teachers. Then there was a Fusion Dance followed by a short Skit performed by the teachers. The programme conducted with a vote of Thanks by school Head Girl Aditi Sharma.

SUPERIOR GENERAL’S VISIT TO CHELSEA

 

On 15th November 2016, superior general of congregation of Jesus and Mary Sr. Monica Joseph and general counselor Sr. Irene Rodrigues visited the Chelsea family. The students welcomed them with flowers and cards. The school Cabinet did the prayer service followed by welcome Dance and a play titled Reunion 2064 by classes 9th and 10th. Our Superior General Sr. Monica Joseph’s addressed the students with her words of love and inspiration. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks.  

ENGLISH ELOCUTION 6TH TO 8TH

 

An English group elocution competition was held in the school on 11th may, 2016. Classes 6th,7th,8th participated in this competition. The event was judged by Rev. Fr Goe Benedict Mathhias, Sr. sunita and ma’am Vandana Chadha. There were two categories for this competition. The three sections of class 6th competed with each other while there was a competition between class 7th and 8th. There was a commendable co-ordination among the children while the elocution was going on. The class that bagged the 1st position was class 8th rose and 6th rose while 8th lily and 6th lily grabbed the second prize. 6th orchid and 7th lily managed to get the 3rd prize. It was a successful event as a result of the collective effort of student and teachers.

 

 

NATIONAL EDUCATION DAY

On November 11, a special assembly by the students of class 7th Rose was conducted to celebrate National Education Day. National Education Day is the birth anniversary of first Education Minister of Independent India, Molana Abdul Kalam Azad. He was very much interested and keen to seek knowledge. The assembly was beautifully depicted through a powerpoint presentation. He actively participated in different movements conducted by Mahatma Gandhi. Education will help to develop India and improve the status of poor. National Education Day has great importance for students, scholars, teachers and all those who wish to be educated.

SKIT ON NATURAL DISASTER (BUARE)

On 5th November, 2016 Mr. Ramesh Sharma and his team presented a very interesting and yet moving Dance Drama/ skit- Buare. Under the programme "Building Urban Action Resilience in Emergencies" initiated by Mr. Prashant Sirkeck, Nagar Nigam Shimla. The idea aims at creating general awareness amoungst youth of the city about the natural calamaties that might endanger our lives.

HINDI ELOCUTION COMPETITION (6th-8th)

The Hindi Elocution was held on 30th of April, 2016. The student from class 6th to 8th actively participated in it. The classes were divided into two groups. The first group comprised of all three sections of class 6th, among these three sections of class 6th, class 6th orchid banged the first prize , class 6th rose got the 2nd and class 6th lily received the third position. The second group comprised of all three sections of class 7th and 8th. In this category class 8th rose was honoured with the 1st ,  8th lily with the 2nd and class 7th orchid with the 3rd position.

DIWALI ASSEMBLY

A special assembly on Diwali was conducted by the students of class 6th on 28th October, 2016. Assembly started with a prayer service to mark this auspicious occasion. A power point presentation depicting the importance of Diwali and its significance for all Indians regardless of faith was shown. A motivating video, ‘Donate eyes’ depicted the spirit of Deepawali, “from darkness into light” let us commit ourselves to good deeds, thus bringing us close to divinity. Last but not the least,a colorful dance performance concluded the assembly.

English Solo Recitation Competition

Poetry is when an emotion is found its thought and thought has found its words. English Solo Recitation Competition was held on 2nd November, 2016 in our school. It was an inter class competition from classes I to V. Mrs. Laly Kurian and Mrs. Seema Sanoria were the judges for this competition. The poems were recited with proper pause, rhythm and pronunciation. All the participants were very enthusiastic and confident. Effective participation of all students was highly appreciated by our esteemed principal and are worthy judges.

COLOURING COMPETITION OF NURSERY & KG CLASSES-2016

Colouring competition was held for classes Nursery and KG classes to bring out their talent and boost their confidence on 2nd May, 2016. The winners of the competition were given certificates by Our Rev. Manager Sr. Alma. MOTHER DAY

A special assembly was held on 9th May, 2016, Mother’s Day conducted by the student of computer club 8th Rose. They depicted the theme through video’s and power point presentation. The video contained moral message that “How much pure and big mother’s heart is.”

INDEPENDENCE DAY OF SENIOR SCHOOL (6TH TO 12TH)

On 15th August,2016 Independence Day celebrations were done in Convent of Jesus and Mary- Chelsea with great enthusiasm. The function was presided our by Miss Shalini Agnihotri IPS Commandant Armed Police Junga and SP Narcotics Control Bureau Shimla. Flag Hoisting was done by the Chief Guest. She took the salute from the school cabinet led by school Head Girl, Aditi Sharma followed by all the office bearers and the students from various Houses. After that a beautiful cultural programme was depicted, glorifying patriotism and nationalism. The cultural programme was conducted by class IX. The Chief Guest was welcomed in the school auditorium with a bouquet. The chief guest, hon’ble Principal Sr. Shyma, Manager Sr. Alma Lighten the lamp and invoked God’s blessings. A mesmerizy Dance Drama along with many dances and choir projected Patriotism through their performances. The chief guest for the day appreciated the programme and she encouraged the students to be patriotic and to work for the growth and development of the nation. She also insisted the students to stay away from all the evils of the society and urged the students to be inspiration for the society. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and finally National Anthem.

INDEPENDENCE DAY OF JUNIOR SCHOOL (1ST TO 5TH)

The Junior School celebrated the 70th Independence Day on 12th Aug,2016, with great pomp and show. The children were enlightened about the sacrifice of our great freedom fighters who laid their lives for our Independence through the special Assembly. The children of classes 4th and 5th performed on the patriotic songs. This was followed by the patriotic song competition by classes 1st to 5th. All the classes sang enthusiastically with great zeal and with the spirit of patriotism. The judges for the competition were Sister Susai, Ma’am Niti and Ma’am Twinkle. They were impressed by the performance put up by the junior school and they also praised the efforts put in by the teachers. In the end prizes were given away by the judges to the winners of the competition.

INDEPENDENCE DAY KG/NUR

15TH AUGUST 1947 MARKS OUT ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY. TO INCULCATE THE FEELING OF PATRIOTISM AND PAY DUE RESPECT TO THE REVOLUTIONARIES, A FANCY DRESS AND PATRIOTIC SONG COMPETITION WAS ORGANISED FOR THE STUDENTS OF NURSERY AND KG ON 11TH AUG, 2016. CHILDREN FROM NURSERY WERE DRESSED UP AS NATIONAL SYMBOLS AND KG’S WERE DRESSED UP AS NATIONAL LEADERS. EACH PARTICIPANT GAVE A CONFIDENT AND HEART THROBBING PERFORMANCE ON THE STAGE. THE PATRIOTIC SONG SUNG BY LITTLE ANGELS FILLED THE HEART OF ITS AUDIENCE WITH THE FEELING OF PATRIOTISM. OUR ESTEEMED PRINCIPAL SR. ALMA AND HONORABLE MANAGER SR. ALMA APPRECIATED THE PERFORMANCE OF THE LITTLE ONE’S AND GAVE THEM CHOCOLATES AND CERTIFICATES AS A TOKEN OF APPRECIATION AND ENCOURAGEMENT

GANDHI JAYANTI

On 3rd October, 2016 The students of class 8th conducted a special assembly to make the occasion of the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi-‘The Father of Nation.’ The assembly began with a pious prayer service which filled positively in the atmosphere. A presentation was displayed to the students wherein Gandhi’s teachings were discussed such as- non- violence, self- sufficiency, importance of truth etc. A video was then shown, depicting Mahatma Gandhi’s life and his contribution towards the Independence of his country. The school choir then sang a melodious song- ‘Vaishnav Jan To’which added to the glory of the assembly was value- based and was a great success.

Cooking Competition

The inter house cooking competition was held on 10th August, 2016. The classes 6th to 10th participated which were divided in two groups. Group 1 comprised of classes 6th and 7th and group II of classes 8th and 10th. The theme for the competition was Independance day. The items prepared by group 1 was sandwich and salad and group II prepared beverages, and decorated of dessert. The yellow house was declared the winner and the second position was grabed by the red house in both the categories. 

FEAST DAY

Feast of st. claudine Thevenet was celebrated on 1/08/2016. The programme began with lighting of the lamp and prayer dance. which was followed by a powerpoint presentation on life of claudine her congregation and its branches. A celebration dance was performed by the students which concluded the function. 

INTER SCHOOL ENGLISH DECLAMATION

On 24th Aug, 2016 Convent of Jesus & Mary organized St. Claudine Thevenet Inter School Declamation Competition. The judges for the event were:

God’s blessings were invoked with a Prayer Dance. Then we had the 1st Category for classes IX and X followed by a refreshment break. Than there was Category 2nd for classes XI and XII. While the results were being completed Choir sang a beautiful song along with a dance performance.

Finally we had the most awaited judgment. One of the judges Prof. Lalita Chandan  encouraged the gathering with enlightening words. Prof. Geetanjali Mahendra gave away prizes for 1st category and Dr. Deepali Dhaul gave the prizes for 2nd category. The winners are as follows category:-

ANNUAL FUNCTION OF SENIOR SCHOOL

On 6th Oct, 2016 Annual Day of Convent of Jesus & Mary Chelsea was organized in the school premises. The chief Guest for the day was Mr. Rohit Thakur (MLA) and chief Parliament Secretary of Agriculture Himachal Pradesh. The programme commenced with welcoming of chief guest with a beautiful bouquet. Then to invoke God’s blessings,there was lighting of lamp by hon’ble chief guest for the day Mr. Rohit Thakur, esteemed Principal Sr. Shyma and the Rv Manager Sr.Alma. Following it was Welcome dance performed with cheer and gusto. Then our Melodious Choir sung a lovely Welcome song. This was followed by presentation of Annual Report which presented all the activities in and around of the school. After the Annual Report students from classes VI to XII presented the dance drama- “The Eternal Struggle.’’ Main character:-

The play depicts the confusion of death on human’s reaction when they die and subsequently God granting life to Death for one month and sends him to a family that is Greyhart family where death experiences life, attachment and love. Thus enters his dilemma and at last death leaves peacefully with Edgar Greyhart understanding the pain and suffering of a human soul. The play concludes with a Tribute to St. Mother Teresa on her canonization. Then there was a karate Performance followed by Bhangra. The whole programme was organized by the following senior teachers:-Shradha Thakur, Laly Kurian, Shalini Sood, Vandana Verma, Seema Kashyap. The Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of school as well as parents put up for the holistic development of the students. He also appreciated the programme and inspired one and all present there. The programme concluded with the vote of Thanks by the Head Girl of the School Aditi Sharma and then school song.

 

 

ANNUAL FUNCTION OF KG & NUR

On 4th October, 2016 Annual Day Function was organized at Convent of Jesus & Mary. The chief guest for the day was Dr. Purnima Chauhan IAS (2000 Batch), HP Cadre, Secretary Administrative reforms and commissioner Dep. Enquiries, Govt. of HP. The programme commenced with  a Welcome speech and Katyayani Mahendru presented a bouquet. To invoke the blessings of God Lighting of Lamp was done by Hon’ble chief guest for the Day Dr. Purnima Chauhan, Esteemed Principal Sr. Shyma and Manager Sr. Alma. A special song was sung by the tiny tots of Kindergarten to welcome everyone, followed by a Dance Drama,” Beauty and the Beast” that conveys a story of a cold hearted Prince who was magically transformed in to a beast for his selfish ways. In order to revert into his true human form, the beast must earn lone of a beautiful woman whom he has imprisoned within his castle before his time runs out. An Annual report was also presented depicting the achievements and academic activities of the year 2016. Two beautiful dances Bum-Bum Bole and Punjabi Dance were also performed by the budding Artists followed by a Tribute to Mother Teresa on her canonization. The hon’ble chief guest appreciated the performances and the confidence exhibited by the students of Nur & KG. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and school song.

ANNUAL DAY FUNCTION (1ST TO 5TH)

On 7th Oct, 2016 Annual Day for Primary School- Classes I to V was organized in the premises of Convent of Jesus & Mary Chelsea. The Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Sita Ram Murdy IPS, DGP Home Guard Fire Services. The programme commenced at 2:30 pm by welcoming the Chief Guest with a bouquet. To invoke God’s blessings there was lighting of Lamp by the Hon’ble Chief Guest for the day, esteemed Principal Sr. Shyma Jose and Reverend Manager Sr. Alma Abraham. The choir sang a beautiful welcome song following by a divine prayer dance. Then the Dance Drama “Twelve Dancing Princess” was performed by the students of classes 1st to 5th where the princesses secretly go to learn the dance without the knowledge of their Father the king and he finds out about it because of their shoes. Eventually he allows them to dance and all live happily ever after. Main Characters are:-

The play dipicts the moral that one man's ensoul is another man's fortune. It is about father who restricts his twelvefreedom should be daughters in a room. But at the end he realizes that freedom should be given with proper guidance. The Play conducted with the celebration dance. Then there was an Annual Report which presented brief glimpse of the activities of the school. Next came the Lavni Dance followed by the Nepali Dance put up by the class 2nd students. After that there was a video to play a tribute to St. Mother Teresa on her cononization. This was followed by the Goan Dance performed by class 1st. The cultural programme continued with the Russian Dance performed by class 4th and then the Punjabi Dance was performed by class 1st. After that prizes were given to the students. The whole function was organized with the great efforts of all the junior school teachers. The Chief Guest and the parents were impressed by the programme and appreciated the efforts of the school for the holistic development of the students. The programme concluded with the vote of Thanks by Brinda Popli followed by the school song sung by the choir.

Scholarships for the various achievers and deserving students were also given by the honorable chief guest for the day.

Shubh Shramik Divas

Worker’s Day was celebrated on 2nd May, 2016 by the students of class XII to honour the workers of the school and to extend their gratitude and love. A programme was put up by the students, that commenced with prayer for the workers, a prayer dance and lighting of the lamps to invoke blessings of God.  Students put up a short skit depicting the complexity of life and that how everyone gets what he/she deserves in their life and that this world is a stage and we all are actors playing our roles and no one can actually predict as to when who shall enter or exit.

Installation Ceremony

THE INSTALLATION CEREMONY WAS HELD ON 19TH MARCH, 2016 IN THE SCHOOL AUDITORIUM. THE CEREMONY WAS PRESIDED OVER BY MR. SANJAY KUNDU, ADDITIONAL DIRECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE AND GRACED BY THE PRESENCE OF THE PROUD PARENTS OF THE NEW STUDENT COUNCIL. THE CEREMONY COMMENCED WITH THE PUJA/WELCOME DANCE PERFORMED BY STUDENTS OF CHELSEA. THE STUDENT COUNCIL WAS HONOURED BY BADGES, SASHES AND FLAGS BY THE HON’BLE CHIEF GUEST AND REVEREND MANAGER SR. ALMA. SCHOOL CHOIR ALSO SUNG HYMNS TO INVOKE GOD’S BLESSINGS ON THIS AUSPICIOUS OCCASION. THE FUNCTION WAS ATTENDED BY THE STUDENTS FROM CLASSES 1ST TO 12TH. THE GATHERING CONCLUDED WITH THE INSPIRING AND MOTIVATING WORDS OF THE HON’BLE CHIEF GUEST.

MASS OF THE HOLI SPIRIT

On 22nd April 2016, Mass of The Holi Spirit was conducted in Chelsea Auditorium. Rev: Fr:  Siby Nellur was the main celebrant for the Eucharistic Celebration. Reading intentions and offertory procession were conducted wonderfully. School choir sang the Hymns beautifully. The inspiring homily of Fr: Siby was well appreciated by the students and teachers.
